Private Pay Services

Indiana Guardianship Services, Inc. offers private pay guardianship services for adults who require court-appointed decision-making support and do not meet eligibility criteria for the VASIA program. These services are available upon referral and are subject to court appointment and oversight.

As with all guardianship services provided by Indiana Guardianship Services, private pay guardianship is pursued only when less restrictive alternatives (such as supported decision-making, powers of attorney, or representative payee arrangements) are not appropriate or sufficient.

Private Pay Guardianship

Who We Serve & Our Approach

Private pay guardianship services are available for adults who require court-appointed decision-making support and do not meet eligibility criteria for the VASIA program. These services are appropriate when less restrictive alternatives (such as supported decision-making, powers of attorney, or representative payee arrangements) are not sufficient. Private-pay guardianship may be a good option for individuals and families who are unable to identify a suitable family member or decision-maker, live at a distance, or require consistent, professional oversight of personal, medical, or financial matters.

Private pay clients are served by the same trained professionals who provide guardianship services through the VASIA program. There is no difference in the quality, ethical standards, or level of court oversight between private pay and VASIA services. All guardianship responsibilities, including intake review, coordination of legal filings, ongoing monitoring, and court reporting, are managed in-house to ensure continuity, accountability, and person-centered care.

Scope of Private Pay Services

1

Personal & Medical Advocacy

Indiana Guardianship Services advocates for individuals’ personal and medical needs by participating in care planning, attending appointments and care conferences, and ensuring decisions reflect the individual’s preferences, safety, and best interests as directed by the court.

2

Financial Oversight & Estate Management

When authorized by the court, guardianship services may include budgeting, bill management, asset oversight, and coordination related to property or estate matters. Detailed accountings are maintained, and all financial activity is reported to the court as required.

3

Monitoring, Documentation, & Court Reporting

Indiana Guardianship Services provides ongoing monitoring of services and living environments, maintains thorough case documentation, and completes required reports to the court to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with court orders.

Referrals and Next Steps

Private-pay guardianship services are initiated through referral. Acceptance is based on court appointment, appropriateness of guardianship, and available capacity.
